Materials and Process Engineer, Spirit AeroSystems
Trevor Angell is a Materials and Process Engineer at Spirit AeroSystems specializing in Automated Fiber Placement and composites process planning. He has 14 years of manufacturing and R&D experience, including 10 years at Spirit working exclusively with AFP and composites production. Trevor supports and leads several multi-disciplinary teams on both current AFP production programs and 5-10 year research projects. Early at Spirit, Trevor was on the R&D team that developed manufacturing processes for AFP of A350 wing spars, fuselage panels, and stringers at Spirit’s Kinston, NC facility. He then spent several years partnered with Boeing 787 fuselage production in Wichita, KS working to improve production rates, install new AFP equipment, and run automation studies. For the past few years, his focus has been on AFP development for the next-generation of AFP equipment, programming, and inspection, with the goal of improved profitability and reduced barrier to entry for automated composites fabrication.
