Anthony J. (Tony) Allen is the Senior Program Manager for Foreign Direct Investment in the South Carolina Department of Commerce’s International Strategy and Trade Division (IST). He has been with the Department of Commerce since 2007. Tony works with the Department of Commerce International Offices to identify overseas companies that may have an interest in investing in South Carolina. He has been involved with business recruitment missions in China, Germany, India, Japan, and Mexico. Before moving to IST Tony was a Senior Project Manager in the Global Business Division. In this capacity he has worked with a wide variety of projects including, automotive, aerospace, food processing, headquarters and back office operations, energy, and distribution centers. He has completed projects with leading companies such as Mercedes-Benz Vans, Bosch, Google, Colgate-Palmolive, Rite Aid, Dollar Tree, LPL Financial, Kobelco and Amazon.

In 2012 he was the recipient of the the W.D. Workman Buffalo Hunter award from the Greenville Area Development Corporation. He was named South Carolina Rural Economic Developer of the Year in 2013. Prior to joining the South Carolina Department of Commerce he served as the Governor’s Representative for Economic Development for Northwest Ohio, with the Ohio Department of Development. Tony has also worked as a county economic developer in Ohio and Wisconsin. He attended the University of Toledo for undergraduate and graduate school. Tony lives with his family in Lexington South Carolina. He has been active with the Boy Scouts of America since 2001.
